Episode 4 – The Coded Map of the City Case

After visiting an exhibit on hidden treasures Conan and his friends find a piece of paper with symbols and the word "Oro" written on it. Conan, initially not interested in the children's treasure hunt, finally realizes that the paper is a treasure map after learning that "Oro" means gold in Italian.

Investigation, Evidence, Deduction and Resolution

→ There's no doubt that Dino Cavane and his accomplices are responsible for the theft    of the Maple Leaf coins, but Cavane refuses to say where the coins are hidden.

→ After looking at an Italian-Japanese dictionary Conan realizes "ORO" means "Gold" in Italian. Conan is shocked to recognize that they really did find a treasure map.

→ Conan is puzzled why someone who is Italian would make a reference to a Japanese street name near Touto Tower.

→ Conan realizes that the shapes on the treasure map really refer to the shapes of neon signs near Touto Tower. It wouldn't make sense for someone who does not speak Japanese to make a reference to a Japanese named street, but rather draw pictures of recognizable objects they saw.

→ Conan and the Detective Boys manage to find the location of the missing Maple Leaf coins only to be confronted by Cavane's accomplice.

→ Thanks to Conan's quick thinking, Conan and the Detective Boys manage to knock the thugs unconscious and run to the police.

Episode 3 – An Idol’s Locked Room Murder Case

Professor Agasa gives Conan the voice-changing bow-tie and tells him that Ran has been worried about Shinichi. After Conan's first day at school his classmates Ayumi Yoshida, Mitsuhiko Tsubura, and Genta Kojima decides to follow Conan home to make him one of their friends.

Later, Pop Idol Yoko Okino arrives at Kogoro’s Detective Agency claiming that a man is stalking her. When they arrived at Yoko's apartment, they find a dead man stabbed in the back with a knife.

Investigation, Evidence, Deduction and Resolution

→ Conan discovers a hoop earring underneath a couch in Yoko's apartment. Yoko reveals this earring belongs Yuko Ikezawa, her rival.

→ Yuko, despite claiming never to have been in Yoko's apartment before, seems to know where the bathroom is located and that the Statue of Liberty figurine in the apartment is actually a lighter.

→ Yamagishi explains that Yoko's apartment's spare key has been missing for awhile.

→ Yamagishi removed a strand of hair from Fujie's hand when he pretended to slip on the floor. When Conan retrieves the hair he realizes Yamagishi must think it belongs to Yoko.

→ Conan discovers an odd indentation mark on the floor as well as traces of water. He also notes that it is strange that only a chair is standing upright on the floor near the body while the rest of the room is in shambles.

→ Inspector Megure upon entering Yoko's apartment notes that the room seems to be at an unusually hot temperature.

→ Conan knocks Kogoro unconscious by kicking him in the head with an ashtray. Using the voice-changing bowtie, Conan as Kogoro reveals the truth behind the strange things that happened to Yoko as well as the murder.

→ Yuko is responsible for the missing apartment key, threatening phone calls, etc. This is why Yuko knew where Yoko's bathroom was and why she knew the Statue of Liberty was actually a lighter.

→ Conan as Kogoro reveals that the Fujie's murder was not a murder at all; Fujie committed suicide. Fujie committed suicide by freezing a knife inside a block of ice and then falling backwards onto the knife from the chair in the room. The odd indentation in the floor was caused by the knife when Fujie landed on it. The water spots on the floor are from the melted ice.

→ Before killing himself, Fujie turned up the heat in Yoko's apartment in order to melt the ice away and conceal the evidence.

Murderer

No Murderer. Akiyoshi Fujie committed suicide.

Motive

Yuko's motive for playing mean pranks and tricks on Yoko was to frighten her and find potential scandal material.

Fujie's motive for committing suicide was Yuko's startling reaction to Fujie grabbing her on the shoulder. (Fujie used to be Yoko's boyfriend until Yamagishi asked him to break up with her for the sake of Yoko's career.) Mistaking Yuko for being his only love Yoko, Fujie took this reaction to mean that Yoko never wanted to see him again. Unable to bear with this thought, Fujie committed suicide, framing Yoko for the murder. 

Episode 2 - Company President’s Daughter Kidnapping

Shinichi wakes up as a small child due to the effect of the poison. After proving his identity to Professor Agasa and explaining the conditions, Agasa decides that he must hide his identity or else those men in black will come back to finish off those connected to him. Shinichi Kudo was renamed "Edogawa Conan" and was placed in the care of Ran and her father, Kogoro Mouri who owns a detective agency which may allow him to gather information on the men in black.

Kogoro receives a case about the company president's kidnapped daughter, Akiko Tani. According to Asao, Akiko was kidnapped by a man dressed in black while she was playing in the garden.

Investigation, Evidence, Deduction and Resolution

→ Conan hints to Kogoro that it is strange that Jumbo, the guard dog, did not bark at the man dressed in black while kidnapping Akiko since the kidnapper supposedly used the pine tree were in Jumbo was near to escape the household.

→ Asao seems surprised when Tani claims the kidnapper is asking for ransom money in addition to shutting down his company temporarily.

→ During a phone call with the kidnapper, Akiko manages to say that she thinks she's in the storeroom of a school and sees a chimney outside the window.

→ Kogoro, thanks to hints from Conan, figures out that Akiko's kidnapping is a fake and that she should be in a nearby hotel.

→ Unfortunately, Akiko was kidnapped for real after the fake kidnapping by a man demanding ransom money in return for Akiko's safety.

→ After searching nearby schools using Jumbo as transportation and a guide, Conan determines that what Akiko saw outside the school window wasn't a chimney at all, but rather the side of a large skyscraper.

→ Conan then finds Akiko but was unable to take down the kidnapper due to his shrunken size.

→ Ran came in time to save them and uses her karate on the kidnapper.

Motive

Akiko's motive for getting Asao to cooperate with her "kidnapping" was that she wanted to spend more time with her father who is always at work and doesn't play with her very much anymore.

Episode 1 - Roller Coaster Murder Case

A man is shot in his locked room during the social gathering held in the mansion. The victim is Manager Yamazaki of Yatsubishi Bank. During the investigation, a high school detective named Shinichi Kudo enters the scene to solve the case.

Investigation

→ Shinichi says that the room of Yamazaki was locked inside when he was killed.

→ Shinichi states that the only possible entrance into the room was the window.

→ The mansion owner says that there is at least a 10 meter gap between the window and the balcony.

→ Shinichi points out that if the killer used the roof eaves to get closer to the balcony, the gap would be shortened to a mere 2 meters and therefore could be easily jumped across.

Evidence

→ Mark on the balcony where the killer attached the rope with a rod.

→ Absence of footprints below the window implies it was an inside job.

→ Shinichi Kudo claims to have spoken with the killer's doctor.

Deduction

→ Shinichi notes that the killer attached the piece of rod in a rope at the balcony to allow the killer to get back across the window.  By using a piece of rod rather than simply tying the rope to the balcony, the killer was able to remove evidence of his method of escape while on the other side of the building.

→ Shinichi deduce that the murderer could be a person who knew the mansion very well.

Resolution

→ Shinichi Kudo points his finger at the murderer, the mansion owner.

→ The mansion owner, being in a wheelchair, then starts to laugh claiming that he's in no position to be able to commit such a crime.

→ Shinichi then grabs a globe and throws it towards the owner who immediately jumps out of his chair to avoid it.

→ Shinichi then says that he's been healed for 3 months as reported by his doctor, which Megure confirms.

Motive

The episode did not clearly state the mansion’s owner motive, it likely had something to do with the secret financial dealings the owner had with Yamazaki.

◄Case 2: Roller Coaster Murder Case►

Ran Mouri and Shinichi Kudo go to the Tropical Land, an amusement park, for a date. Their date was cut short when a murder occurs while they're riding the roller coaster. Who is responsible for killing Kishida, and how did they do it?

Investigation and Deduction

→ Kishida is beheaded while riding the Mystery Coaster.

→ Shinichi examines the tunnel area of the Mystery Coaster and finds a wire with some pearls still strung onto it and a hook at the end of the wire.

→ The killer left a false piece of evidence, a bloodied knife, inside Aiko's purse with the intention of framing her. Shinichi proves this is a fake piece of evidence claiming that it is impossible for a woman to have used enough force to behead someone while on the ride.

→ Shinichi states that killer used an object like a purse or a backpack to escape the ride restraints and wrap a wire around the victim's head while in the darkness of the Mystery Coaster's tunnel.

→ After tying the wire around the victim's head, the killer tossed a hook attached to the other end onto the roller coaster's track, beheading the victim using the coaster's speed and movement.

→ Shinichi deduce that the murderer is Hitomi, as her expertise as a gymnast makes this feat possible. 

Evidence

→ Hitomi's necklace (the murder weapon) is missing after the end of the ride

→ Hitomi has a tear-trail on her face that runs horizontally which is impossible unless she was crying during the course of the ride.

Motive

Hitomi murdered Kishida because she used to go out with him long before she met Aiko and Reiko in college. Hitomi planned to murder Kishida at the place they had their first date (Tropical Land) using the necklace he had bought for her. If Shinichi didn’t prove the truth behind the murder, Hitomi was planning to commit suicide via drugs after the visit to Tropical Land.

◄Chasing the Men in Black►

Shinichi, suspicious of the two men dressed in all black that rode the coaster, decides to follow them on their way to the outskirts of Tropical Land, leaving Ran behind and telling her to head on home without him. Shinichi witnesses one of the men in the middle of an illegal transaction with somebody and doesn't pay attention to his surroundings. The other man dressed in black knocks Shinichi out from behind. The men, recognizing Shinichi as a detective, give Shinichi an untested poison in order to kill him and leave him to die. However, rather than killing Shinichi, the poison shrinks him down to the size of a seven year old.
